Global launch of the Chinese Visual Key Input Method
At the China–UAE cultural forum in Dubai, Dr. John Chu presented the Visual Key Method to 60+ education experts and scholars. Prof. Zhang Xiping described it as the most significant advance in Chinese-character research since the Shuowen Jiezi; Prof. Pan Wenguo noted it was developed over sixteen years and supports more than 80,000 characters; a Tsinghua AI-governance researcher called it, simply, “the Key to Chinese.” Read the release →

A 中文之钥 symposium at Tsinghua University
An international symposium on the Clavis Sinica brought together more than sixty scholars, with press coverage reported across some eighteen countries. The project’s three teaching works for international learners were published the same year.

“Education Person of the Year”
Dr. Chu’s decision to leave a lucrative career for the study and teaching of Chinese culture was recognised with a national education honour, following earlier feature coverage of his work in the Chinese press.
